A group of DBP youth marched to Hasankeyf
A group of DBP youth marched from Batman to Hasankeyf in order to protest the Ilisu Dam and for the rescuing of Hasankeyf.
The march started in front of the municipality of Batman. The protestors argued that their aim is to defend the water, land, energy and culture of the region against profit and repression.

On occasion of Andritz’s Annual General Meeting which is also the World Water Day, Save the Tigris campaign, a coalition of nongovernmental organizations from Iraq, Iran, Turkey sent a letter to Andritz’s CEO Wolfgang Leitner regarding its involvement in the construction of the Ilisu Dam in Turkey; a controversial project which has failed to comply with basic international law.

We call on the Turkish government to stop the ongoing construction of the Ilisu Dam. On the 7th of January the administrative court of Ankara took the decision to stop all works immediately until an Environmental Impacts Assessment according to Turkish law is done.

The Turkish Superior Administrative Court ruled on January 7 in favour of the legal case filed by the Chamber of Architects and Engineers (TMMOB) against the construction of the Ilisu dam project, ordering an immediate halt to the controversial dam construction in southeast Turkey.
