Action at UNESCO-WHC Session for Hasankeyf and Iraqi Marshes

Today an action has been done in front of the annual conference opening of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) of UNESCO in Bonn/Germany. The participants demanded to list Hasankeyf (Turkish-Kurdistan) and the Iraqi Marshes on the World Heritage List and to stop the Ilisu Dam at the Tigris River.

A group of DBP youth marched from Batman to Hasankeyf in order to protest the Ilisu Dam and for the rescuing of Hasankeyf.

The march started in front of the municipality of Batman. The protestors argued that their aim is to defend the water, land, energy and culture of the region against profit and repression.
